Ask HN: Anyone Using Matrix Professionally?

I've been experimenting with matrix recently after being frustrated with slack, and discord on ubuntu seems to machine gun my /var/log/syslog with increasingly diverse junk on every update.

I have been using it personally with my wife and some friends and have started to create some space and rooms for my consulting firm and was curious if anyone else has taken the leap into matrix as a professional solution to replace slack/teams/discord/etc? Any other technologies I should look at that are private and locally hostable?

The API seems nice and I was able to get a quick plugin built with rust so that's got my noggin' joggin' that this could become a serious replacement for slack (I do leverage slack to be my alert gateway across projects).
