So the claim he bought it for Twitter is false

x.com redirects to twitter.com

He bought the domain 6 years ago. He clearly didn't buy it for Twitter.

Oh, my mistake. Sorry for the confusion.

I guess he’s run out of tricks to make it seem like he was doing bold imaginative stuff with twitter. A big rebrand for no reason should get headlines.

He didn't buy it for Twitter. He's had it since before his PayPal days when he was trying to push for what became PayPal to become x.com.

He's been sitting on this domain and itching to use it for something, like a child. I mean I get it, I also would be itching.

But Twitter was already a perfect (and better) brand for... Twitter.

How much did x.com cost? And who owned it before?
