So... why does Ubuntu include bpfilter?

somehow it does not gain much attraction so far? most people still keep using netfilter which is more mature and widely used.

bpfilter is supposed to be complementary to netfilter, what's its use case mostly, higher throughput performance? I have yet to use it myself.

Facebook might be the most active bpfilter developer. there was a 2021 update: https://www.phoronix.com/news/BPFILTER-2021

The 2021 update related patch did not seem to get merged into kernel, progress on bpfilter is very slow to me.
