Ask HN: What was the last HN submission you favorited before Covid shutdowns?
“Covid Shutdown” date is largely subjective, and I personally demarcate March 15, 2020 as being pre-Covid.
And the one just before that was pretty cool too, lots of fun gear animations:
February 12, 2020 - Gears: https://ciechanow.ski/gears/
Never did anything special with them, same as most submissions I favorite.
It should be noted that I was already freaking out about Covid at this point. I remember going to a writing retreat in early February at a cabin with like 14 other people for two days and being very nervous about it (I almost cancelled).
The first COVID related were "Anonymous Covid-19 Proximity Alerts" https://opendemic.org/ We all learned people don't like to share their position and even less act if a positive case was nearby. And https://www.helpwithcovid.com/
I wanted to move back into Data Science so I enrolled in Georgia Tech’s masters program. I was very weak in Linear Algerba, so I saved this online textbook for linear algebra to have something to dive deep into during the holidays. https://textbooks.math.gatech.edu/ila/
When Covid happened, I had all the time in the world, and forgot about this link until now lol.
what a great reminder I should be using https://www.pulumi.com/ vs. terraform!
