Narrowlink – Better self-hosted tailscale/ngrok alternative

Thanks for raising this point - I appreciate you noting that the Ngrok comparison is not documented yet. Both Tailscale and Ngrok have pros and cons compared to Narrowlink, depending on the specific use case and requirements.

Narrowlink aims to provide more secure and flexible options around remote access, as explained in the current documentation. Since the project was just recently launched, I am still working on improving the docs to highlight the differences.

Both Narrowlink and Ngrok can publish websites on the internet and perform TLS provisioning (e.g., https://narrow.host has published by using narrowlink). However, Narrowlink provides self-hosting and more advanced security features like SNI proxy and CDN compatibility. More importantly, Ngrok exposes non-HTTP services directly to the internet, which can raise security issues, while Narrowlink uses an alternative approach.

I'd hugely welcome any feedback or PRs to help strengthen the documentation and comparisons! As an open source project, Narrowlink relies on the community's skills and insights to thrive. We're just getting started - experienced users like yourself are so important for guiding the project in the right direction. Please feel free to share any other feedback that comes to mind.

Yours
