80s movies: people are eating sandwiches while waiting at the traffic light. Now: people are eating each other while waiting at the traffic light.

Why pay for a room?

Cheaper, safer, cleaner, and more convenient than a room in a motel. The room comes to the customer!

More seriously, this is evidently an unintended business model for Cruise -- and probably not a welcome one.
