Gen X employees are losing interest in the tech workplace culture

A lot of these “difference between generation” articles seem to ignore that people in different age groups have different priorities. Older people tend to have a family to think about and are established in their career, so they’re less likely to need a career to tell them what they’re values are.

That said, I personally find it depressing to let a job tell you who you are and what you should care about. Everyone ought to go through the self-discovery of figuring that out for themselves

The culture is "we will fire you even if we don't have to, so we can make record profits". Or slurs like "laptop class". Hard to be excited about that.
