So the pension funds are suing Fox because Fox got sued and lost the case which was bad for investors - Fox had to pay out a ton of money negatively impacting investment returns.

I don't think this is going anywhere - Caveat Emptor. This lawsuit should be thrown out. As Matt Levine often says: everything is securities fraud[0].

The previous crap didn't lead to a defamation lawsuit. You can't sue for something ill-defined legally as "a complete lack of morals" but you can for recklessly creating liability in a defamation lawsuit.
