Is this "not quite a recession" worse than any recession in memory?

How can he be both making more than ever and nobody have money to spend on him?

Recession is when people can't spend, not when prices can keep on rising because people still do have money to spend.

But there is a poor guy in the comments that only goes out to eat 1 or 2 times a week instead of 3-5. What a tragedy
