If you have five people in the car with apple watches or similar you could have 6 calls in total. Wonder what the theoretical max number of calls would be in a fog pile-up.

Not even just Apple products - in my 2022 Toyota, the car itself and my 4g connected dashcam both would call 911 on top of phone auto dialing. I’ll take the triple redundancy if it means the ambulance comes faster.

Or they send 3 ambulances and then demand you pay for all 3...

Fun fact: often in the USA you don't get charged for an ambulance unless you use it. Call 911, let the paramedics check you over, and refuse to go with them. You just got a free health check-up -- a nice trick for the elderly

People who can afford to call 911 three times for the same incident should not get better service than those that call once.

My car did this for me when I crashed back in 2014. The best part is how the song I was listening to before the accident resumed after the call like nothing happened.

Ford cars in Europe have done this for years… my son crashed his 2016 Fiesta the other week and the car automatically called the emergency services via his phone

Why is it news when a car can do something that watches have been able to do for years?

Tesla in particular was already loaded with all the tech to do this.
