Indeed I was. No one actually liked clearfix, but we had to do it. It was the bit of plaster smeared over the hole the door knob punched in the wall. A necessity, but not a nice one
But CSS isn't "fun again" if it wasn't fun before. And it certainly was not fun before, it was a horrible nightmare of non-standard implementation and an ill fit for what designers wanted to do.
