And maybe: What possible in 2023 that wasn't in 2022?

This is inspired by this old Ask HN i just found, that got not a lot of traction. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10816484

Interested to hear from the minds of HN.

Happy new year go everyone!

I've read the most contradicting views on what to expect from the stock market in 2024. Yes, it'll continue going down at least until the traditional February bump. But I've seen a lot of things saying that afterward, we start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, with stocks going through the roof by the end of the year.

Is it true? I don't know. I do know the Motley Fool guys love this sort of thing so they can give opposite opinions that let them be right either way.

But I am hoping 2024 begins another period where there is a lot to be made in the markets. 2023 had some great picks, but they weren't nearly as plentiful as after the tech bubble and after 2008 yet.

I'm open to everyone's opinions on what markets are going to succeed this year. It's apparent Nvidia will be one of the ones to actually go through the roof.

Being born on leap day.

Polio may finally be eradicated from the entire planet.

Joining just 2 other diseases: smallpox and rinderpest.

2023 wasn't quite there. But 2024 might be the year.

Polio, I just read that anti-vaxers are making that goal very hard to achieve. It might start to reappear in areas where it was thought to have been irradicated since some parents aren't willing to let their children get vaccinated.

Make your own Mickey Mouse comic and SELL it.

Current year is divisible by 2.

Something something AI.

I understand & support your cynicism. I was actually hoping to find here answers that are exactly off the "AI"-hype (LLM will solve world hunger)
