New England stone walls deserve a science of their own

Growing up, it was clear that an old stone wall was removed to build my parents' house. There were parts of the wall in the woods between the properties, but the spot that would have gone through the house was removed.

I was disappointed when my parents and their neighbor removed one of the walls so they could clear some trees and put in a fence. There's just so much charm in these old stone walls.
