Book: "Broken Money" by Lyn Alden

Common pitfalls in the book,

- starts with overly philosophical view of money. Feeds money mysticism. Unified theory of money is meh.

- can't break away from microeconomics thinking.

- Every concern and viewpoint in mainstream monetary theory above basic undergraduate level is missing. For example, the only reference to Minsky is quote from CNBC news.

- ends with technical solutions for non problems.

It's OK to go against the grain and represent alternatives, but the author should at least be aware. Original thinking without knowledge of what exists is not valuable.

"The topic is about the past, present, and future of money, and why the current financial system is letting a lot of people down lately.

My goal for the book is for the reader to walk away with a deep understanding of money and monetary history, both in terms of theoretical foundations and practical implications."
