Do I need a cover letter for a tech job?

When I look at resumes, a cover letter is a plus. It shows that the applicant is putting in some effort, and not just spamming every position available.

When I'm hiring, I probably spend less than 30 seconds looking at a resume...

What I look for (these are for process engineering positions)

-Education (need a degree - HR requirement) - I don't care about grade. -Projects or internships - relevant to the position. -Hobbies / interests - for me, this is the biggest one. Looking for a hobby or interest that needs problem solving - car repair, 3d printing, robotics, baking, whatever. I don't really care about travel, sports, etc.

Matches my system. If I send you a cover letter, I _WANT_ the job. If there's not enough info in the job req. or it sounds like a boring position, I throw out an application and try to get more info during screening/interview.

If it is a job you really want, then you need a cover letter a email intro and a video intro of yourself, that will increase your chances 10 fold!

Let’s be honest. Job searching these days can be awful.

You find a job to apply for. You upload your resume. You then manually enter all of the information that is already on your resume...
