Barbados is working on something similar "Reclaiming Our Atlantic Destiny (ROAD) Project" ... "it includes a massive digitization project, the creation of a memorial to enslaved people by Adjaye Associates, and the planning for a new heritage district to incorporate a museum and archives, performing arts venues, and associated amenities". Not working with the Internet Archive, at least as far as I know.

What an absurd headline. If the island somehow disappeared, they would soon find out that the "entire island" was not in fact backed up.

Your observation is so obvious that it should make you wonder whether you're making an insightful and helpful criticism -- or just failing to comprehend that not all sentences are literal, and rhetorical flourishes are a thing. For god's sake, prose is not code.

I'm definitely not trying to be helpful. Just openly annoyed by yet another clickbait headline in a sea of clickbait headlines that somehow survived HN scrutiny.

I totally agree, it's the kind of grandiose exaggeration I've come to expect from SV culture. In reality, they scanned 40,000 documents and 60,000 images.
