From Pomona to Oakland, a skater mapped California block by block from his board

For something kind of in the same vein, a youtuber Chad Caruso rode a skateboard all the way across America from Venice Beach, CA to Virginia Beach, VA:

Some of my favorite clips were from early in the vlogs in the Southwestern USA like California, Airzona, and New Mexico:

I wish he would wear a helmet, show the young kids that it’s okay to wear one.

It would be really interesting if he literally mapped it — but unfortunately, he just wrote a book.

I misread the title in the same way—like, a licensed surveyor with a precision GIS skateboard? mapping a city contract assignment, methodically, block by block...

This staircase: we need to measure it, for, code compliance

I highly recommend you follow me in closing the web browser and getting outside on the skateboard.

Thanks friend; I needed this comment.

That's what I was expecting too. I was excited to see some kind of topographic map, or an open web map with pins for particularly good skating areas, etc. Could be a cool project.

Tangential: I'm currently planning to create a set of GPX files for trail skating around my local city, including a description of the skating surface, traffic, safety, etc. to give an idea of how what experience level is recommended.

Skating is a great way to see the same local places from a very different perspective (than my usual driving through without paying any attention to anything other than driving / getting to the destination).

He didn't map anything.

He wrote a book, that's it.
