As a fellow dancer, this hit me really hard. Growing up, my parents didn't believe in ADHD. I experienced years of burnout and distress going through school, university, and the workplace. Only later in life did I begin to understand that I was a dancer, stuck without a stage to perform on. Thank you for your vulnerability, Essa. I'm sure many will relate and find meaning in this post.
Thanks for the kind words! While I wish you didn't have to go through that, I'm hoping the understanding has helped make things easier for the present.
As someone with ADHD (also combined type), this REALLY resonated with me! Keep dancing!
One of us! One of us :)
Love this! Going to share with some fellow ADHD’ers that I work with
Honestly loved this. I've got ADHD as well and can really relate to wishing that I wasn't a "dancer" throughout my childhood and hating the fact that I felt different. Some people just ARE dancers, and that's a good thing.
