I say this every time this topic comes up and will continue to do so: YT has no right to circumvent what I tell my browser to do, and that includes adblocking. If they don't like it, they can block me from using the service. Simple as that.

And they will, eventually.

I wish there was something like torrents but for video. The problem would be discoverability as usual.

I use FreeTube to happily enjoy ad-free YouTube daily.

Isn't it yt's right to tell your browser what to do, within the boundaries set by js/the browser?

the browser runs the js and the user runs the browser. al things should be subservient to the user.

Yet, you believe that you have the right to other people's created works while circumventing their means for recompense. Hmmm

... Let's just put aside the messy distinction between "what you tell your browser to do" and the code written by the website that you visit.

If content is put in public for free, then I will consume it for free. No one can make my eyeballs stare at ads, and it is my choice to hide them if I wish, just as it is the choice of a cable user to change the channel during an ad break, or configure a DVR to not record them.

I happily support creators that give me ethical means to do so, like anonymous donations or buying useful products I want.

Consuming ads only seeks to empower a system that makes it harder for creatives to be creative and get fairly paid.

Adtech is societal cancer, and everyone who supports it is no friend of creators.

Block all ads always.
