Honestly i wish people would give up on the whole performance/scalability thing. There are so many variants of the notion, and most implentations implement something that meets some technical definition of fast/scalable but not a useful one from a social perspective

You are making fun of me here, but i would reiterate my claim here.

Non useful performance/scalability should be given up on. We usually call such things "micro-optimizations". There is a famous quote about them being the root of all evil.

Useful scalability (things that actually make computer go noticably faster) should be persued.

I don't think this is a controversial opinion.

fwiw, the Knuth quote is "premature optimizations are the root of all evil"
