This is Apple's fault for normalizing the removal of the headphone jack, causing the price of headphones to triple and making existing headphones obsolete. This is unregulated business at its best!

Looks like WSJ clickbait. Just because something occasionally happens does not mean it's a pattern.

Stay at my house for a day. Wife and both daughters all have multiple sets of headphones and I get to listen to Spotify playlists and Instagram/TikTok video chipmunk noises from tinny little phone speakers all day.

Maybe for the same reason I stopped using headphones with my phone: There's no headphone jack, and Bluetooth is too finicky.

Airlines have also been passing out cheap earbuds for a while. They can't do that for Bluetooth now.
