Apple Explains Why It Doesn't Plan to Create a Search Engine

Anecdotally "Applebot/0.1; +http://www.apple.com/go/applebot" is hitting my site almost as hard as OAI-SearchBot...

Of course it's all BS, but whatever, the last thing we need is another search engine from bigtech, telling us what we can read, instead of giving real search results.

On the other hand, someone should really create a search engine that does the same what Google did 10 years ago (and maybe make it actually better than it used to be). I wouldn't even mind if Apple made that (which would never happen), although I'm looking forward the day when a small player kicks Google's butt so hard, that they are forced to sell themselves for cents on the dollar.
