> Interim D.C. U.S. attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr., on Friday dismissed about 30 federal prosecutors who have worked on Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot cases over the past four years, undertaking a housecleaning of the top prosecutor’s office in Washington, while preparing to extend the office’s scrutiny to top Democratic leaders and former Justice Department officials, people close to Martin said.
And hold on to what AOC mentioned, that the current ding-dongs talk a loud game but are stunningly incompetent in implementation.
Things have been uncomfortable, but so far we're getting what we paid for, which I think doesn't warrant mass action. e.g. So far this is what the people who voted for the current administration wanted, and they were a majority.
One question I keep coming back to is whether civil unrest is going to go the way of dating, hanging at the local pub, and most other forms of in person activities, and basically get replaced by staying at home by yourself, looking at a screen, and being too distracted to participate.
People had a hard enough time organizing protests in bygone eras, when there was nothing else to do. If we were to cross a meaningful threshold of governmental abuse, is anyone going to step outside, away from their screens?
Did the MAGA crowed redefine 49.8% as a majority recently? I seem to have missed that.
I don't think the computer screen is responsible here. 2 years from now, (minus a small handful of states), the Democratic candidate is going to be elected as they were last year or the Republican candidate is going to be elected as they were last year. There just isn't a significant risk of losing your position over an issue; you'll see say sure the senate flip from 60-40 to 40-60 but you don't see if go 80-20.
