Tortoise Mode vs. Hare Mode

Reminds me of Freeman Dyson’s “Frogs and Birds” categories for researchers

The most important principle to me when it comes to thinking is to recognize when people act in binary extremes and develop moderation. If you slow down and take a look around yourself, you can probably see your strengths and weaknesses. If you're a tortoise kind of person, look at how the hares do things, and vice versa. From the article:

"So far, I’ve mostly been talking about tortoise mode, as if it was the good mode that we need more of. But it takes both modes to live life well. I don’t think the parable of the tortoise and the hare is the whole truth. We’re not the tortoise or the hare: we are the tortoise and the hare. The question is which champion to bring out for which race."
