Jim Blinn is one of the pioneers of computer graphics. In the early days of the Voyager mission, he was tasked by JPL to create animations illustration Voyager's mission through the solar system.
Created on a PDP, with absurdly limited capabilities by today's standard, Blinn was able to create amazing CG for the time. A lot of this was entirely groundbreaking.
