Show HN: MovePlay – An app that gets kids moving

Hi HN! I’m excited to share something I’ve been working on: MovePlay, an app that turns screen time into action time.

With MovePlay, kids don’t just sit and swipe — they jump, run, and move to play games. Using the device’s camera, the app recognizes and responds to their movements, turning passive screen time into active play.

I originally built it for my daughters. They really like playing games, but I didn’t want them spending all their time sitting on the couch. I wanted to see if I could make something fun that would get them moving instead.

MovePlay is built for iOS and Mac using Apple’s Vision framework. All video processing happens entirely on-device (no images or videos are ever transmitted). It uses real-time body pose detection along with a small custom ML model I trained for hand gestures (to start and stop games).

I’d love to hear your feedback — especially from parents or anyone interested in and active play.
