Supreme Court allows California to use congressional map benefitting Democrats

Notably, they're allowing it because they think it's based on political bias. If it had been on the basis of racial bias, they'd have forbidden it.

Texas and California now both have nakedly and explicitly partisan gerrymandering. The court has rejected attempts to use Due Process or Equal Protection or other clauses based on the idea that you're losing a chance at a voice in Congress. There's no law preventing that -- except for a narrow set of protected categories.

I'd like to see somebody run for Congress on a bill to make that explicit. I don't know the best way to phrase it -- perhaps just making political party a protected class?
