Ask HN: Enabling Non-Protected VMS for Android Terminal for Samsung S26 Ultra

1 pointmbana0 comments

Hi All,

Summary: What would it take to enable non-protected VMs on the Qualcomm's Snapdragon chip that ships on the Samsung S26 Ultra? I can't just wait for them to enable it. Please point me in the right direction of research.

The error is the same as reported at https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/s/8vtrnCD1wR.

1. Is this a physical hardware limitation?

2. Why wouldn't Qualcomm enable it?

3. Anyone have any word on if Samsung will be fixing this anytime soon?

Hardware:

* Samsung S26 Ultra: https://www.samsung.com/uk/smartphones/galaxy-s26-ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip.

* Android 16.

* OneUI 8.5.

Regards,

- Bana
