Thanatos Rising

Reader regrets not forming a college rock band.

> Then, around four years later, another rocker heard the song and thought: Peace? Love? Was this for real or a put-on? In 1978, he recorded a cover that [...] left little room for doubt about how he felt. [A] snarling tale of disillusionment became a New Wave anthem.

The surface-dwelling average Joe's consensus on this is that it's just some natural thing, akin to tide. But in fact there's always an army of narrative helmsmen who steer said Joe's conscious and, most importantly, subconscious processes into accepting that war is inevitable, that he's got to "serve the historic justice" and go kill the neighbor for that occasion when the neighbor's grand-grandfather shat on his grand-grandfather's lawn, or the guy whose skull proportions are wrong.

And in the name of his implanted ideals the avg. Joe goes and helps attain someone's goals to someone's benefit at the price of his own and his yesterday-neighbor-today-enemy's lives.

> Instead, nations were inclined to define themselves by the shared heritage of their residents and the historical grievances they held toward their neighbors.

The old trusty card, played again and again, never beaten by any historical precedents. Exactly the one that trumped so many Russians' reason and critical thinking in 2014, which resulted in what it by all means supposed to. I saw that all unfolding in real time, unable to drive it home to people around me that it will end bad.

I keep saying this to my friends: Schopenhauer was wrong when he said "No individual has ever lived among such pitiful contemporaries as I have; their poverty of spirit is equaled only by their malice", for that's really us who are living among such ones.

> [...] the promises of globalism have come undone.

How in the world have they come undone, when the globalist zeal for control and surveillance is all the rage across the globe, and even in the "anti-globalist" Russia the launch of the CBDC is planned for this autumn, with all govt services transitioning to digital and citizens forced to access them via a govt-approved app?

Truly too little people understand what "think global, act local" means.

Globalism does not mean "we own them all via One Single App all across the One United World", it means "we own them all in their segregated cattle pens via the network of locally-adapted narratives and technological means they presume to be anti-globalist".
