Is he wrong?

PaulG’s question “why did you give these jobs to foreigners” is childish.

No, I think he is right.

You could have picked a headline: ”Palmer Luckey takes on Paul Graham who questions hiring foreigners”

You're right, I changed it a little.

> even if they are "the most qualified"

Well are they or aren't they?

PG has had a license to print visas. Fund a company whose founders are from outside the US and they basically get an automatic “genius” visa. This has not gone unnoticed by wealthy parents who, via the usual quid pro quo agreements have had stunning success in getting their kid’s/nephew’s/cousin’s roommate accepted into YC. No qualifications other than cutting a check required.

I don't agree with Palmer much, but he loves America and wants the best for it.

Though YC started well, it has since degraded startup culture and turned founding into a short-term, status-driven, sexist boys' club, full of get-rich-quick grifters, and now PG has left the country that made him so he'll never have to reckon with what he created.

Of course he would say this because he won't reckon with the idea that there's more to life than making number go up, all your silly morals or fealties are second to almighty "growth". He's too successful to ever have to think about it.

Can you point to some conclusive evidence that YC has degraded in the way you described other than some bad eggs, which is expected as they have scaled enormously.

Using words like “traitor” so casually, and now saying that pg is “gone” (https://x.com/PalmerLuckey/status/2094639434436427911)...

From my European perspective, Luckey just comes across as an anti-democratic Trumpist. I don’t understand why pg even engages with people like that.
