Yes, they are manufacturing consent for banning open-weight models while they privately do whatever they want without sharing anything with the public except dramatic warnings.
That's exactly what it looks like to me, I guess it's time to re-evaluate those open models.
Can't talk for models in the range of ~100 GiB, but 32 GB ones are extremely basic.
