Genesis – The Bible verse that far-right Americans misinterpret to defend Israel

Now of course, both Islam and Christianity claim that they are the heirs of the biblical promises (as in this video, OP, and in, e.g. Bin Laden’s Letter to Americans), and they will find passages in scripture, especially in their own newer scriptures, to support their views, and that’s the crux of the Middle East conflict.

However, there are so many places in the Old Testament, where the heirs of the promise are described as a people with only one country, who have been exiled from that country, and live as a small minority dispersed amongst the nations, and that God will never break his promise to them and return them eventually. This and many other descriptions do not work for the religions that have many powerful countries.

The promises are also made based on keeping the rules of the book, and while Rabbinic Judaism expanded on them and evolved to some extent, the religion with traditions most similar to the Judaism of the time is Judaism of today.
