I actually think that AI proceeds to disrupt the global economy without any change in the political climate is going to bring down all of us, that is, annihilating us.

Just think what happens if 20% of office workers get sacked and can no longer find a job, and the elites keep pushing for a "better" world.

Although I do enjoy the use of AI to certain extent, I have always been an AI doomer.

I think the discourse of AI doomers is more specifically about AI taking control and acting against us, not really about AI posing risks in general.

I do think AI poses huge environmental and societal risks, including for reasons in the spirit of what you say. That's not being an AI doomer IMHO. That looks way more reasonable to me.

I'm not really sure what's the definition of an AI doomer, but yeah I don't think it poses any significant DIRECT risk.
