EBay has a bunch of LTO-3 tape drives for sale for <$300. LTO-3 is 22 years old and can read LTO-1, originally released 26 years ago. I expect them to still be for sale 20 years from now, albeit fewer in number. I see no reason why LTO-7/8/9 drives won’t be readily available for the foreseeable future.
