I look for high refresh rate and high nits. Also bearing in mind there are various ways some manufacturers fudge IPS. So I tend to stick with a make I know.

Resolution obviously plays a big part, but for me 1440 is fine.

Are there any monitors that have a resolution somewhere between 1440 and 4k? I want more pixels than 1440p, but don't necessarily want to go to 4k and have to scale everything... I've tried looking and there doesn't seem to be much if anything.

I'm not sure if you're on a Mac, but I've found the scaling to be a non-issue on my 27" 4K monitor. There are various 'use as' resolution options untied to the actual display resolution (basically: make the UI appear as though I'm running at this lower res, but with higher dpi). For me running 4k with 'use as' set to 1440p is perfect.

2560x1440 (QHD) ~3.69MP 100%

3440x1440 (UWQHD) ~4.95MP 134.38%

3840x1600 ("UWQHD+") ~6.14MP 166.67%

3840x2160 (4K UHD) ~8.29MP 225%

You either get more screens, an ultrawide, or a 4K screen and try software scaling lower.

If I had the budget and always worked on a Mac I might spring for an Apple Studio but it would have to have the nano-texture glass.

Thank you. I switched back to an older and lower res Dell after using an iiyama for years because my eyesight is steadily getting worse and anything that will help with the headaches and the blurring is welcome. Glasses can only do so much when viewing screens, if the screen is not optimal the glasses can't really correct for that so I'm aiming to get the best possible for both.

Advice: It's important to use something like Stretchly to enforce resting our eyes. I started to get real relief and healing only when I enforced a two-minute eye break every twenty-minutes -- that sounds like way too much, but at the time it was necessary. Now I do the standard twenty seconds per twenty minutes.
