The super intelligence shit is a humiliation ritual for OpenAI

We don't call HDTVs that anymore. We just call them TVs. Like what happened when Color TVs became the norm.
At some point a Self-Driving Car will just be a car.
At some point mentioning that a product includes AI will sound silly because it will just be a given.
At that point having ai inclusion be part of the products name will sound as outdated as saying Color TV.
Kodak. Kleenex. PC. etc.
SI has no network effects. I reject it.
But yeah, in the meantime it’s a humiliation ritual. Good.
If you name it, you own it.
If really a new expression need to be coined, that should be something that means derived Intelligence/type II Intelligence etc. What is intelligence anyway?
It's just a weird attempt at cementing some legacy. The rest of the world is not going to go along with it.
Then again, flattering thinking machines is not too bad, ... just in case :D

The best I can figure out is I guess good for the next two years having people subordinate to your administration.
I don't expect any of us will live long enough to see a similar skid-mark on the underwear of humanity.
We are not of a like mind wanting the same outcomes just with different paths of reaching it. Conservatives want a country defined by "natural" hierarchies. "Some people 'deserve' to be on the bottom and a permanent sub-class of existence so me and my people can rightfully be above them".
You see it all the time among conservatives. Look at Dying of Whiteness. Trevor was willing to die of a preventable illness because he didn't want to help "Mexicans" or "Welfare Queens".
https://www.bostonreview.net/articles/jonathan-m-metzl-dying...
> Debates raged in Tennessee around the same time about the state’s participation in the Affordable Care Act and the related expansion of Medicaid coverage. Had Trevor lived a thirty-nine-minute drive away in neighboring Kentucky, he might have topped the list of candidates for expensive medications called polymerase inhibitors, a lifesaving liver transplant, or other forms of treatment and support. Kentucky adopted the ACA and began the expansion in 2013, while Tennessee’s legislature repeatedly blocked Obama-era health care reforms.
> Even on death’s doorstep, Trevor was not angry. In fact, he staunchly supported the stance promoted by his elected officials. “Ain’t no way I would ever support Obamacare or sign up for it,” he told me. “I would rather die.” When I asked him why he felt this way even as he faced severe illness, he explained: “We don’t need any more government in our lives. And in any case, no way I want my tax dollars paying for Mexicans or welfare queens.”
> At the most basic level, Trevor died of the toxic effects of liver damage caused by hepatitis C. Yet Trevor’s deteriorating condition resulted also from the toxic effects of dogma. Dogma that told him that governmental assistance in any form was evil and not to be trusted, even when the assistance came in the form of federal contracts with private health insurance or pharmaceutical companies, or from expanded communal safety nets. Dogma that, as he made abundantly clear, aligned with beliefs about a racial hierarchy that overtly and implicitly aimed to keep white Americans hovering above Mexicans, welfare queens, and nonwhite others. Dogma suggesting to Trevor that minority groups received lavish benefits from the state, even though he himself lived and died on a low-income budget with state assistance. Trevor voiced a literal willingness to die for his place in this hierarchy, rather than participate in a system that might put him on the same plane as immigrants or racial minorities.
This is the disease we are fighting against. Bigotry which supersedes self preservation. They hate so fucking much they are willing to die to make someone else suffer. Fuck conservatism and fuck conservatives. They uniquely make our world a worse place for everyone to exist in.
Define "significant" - Trump has the worst approval rating of any president ever measured. The "conservative coalition" was always going to Balkanize, anyone with a modicum of sense could see that, and they were unpopular before but now they're EXTREMELY unpopular.
I mean, "a conservative win" in a country where 1/3 of people have no religious preference, 1/5 marriages is multi-racial and acceptance of legalized gay marriage is in the 70's. Winning a battle isn't winning the war, they were deluding themselves into thinking they were going to "reshape" anything.
Now they've outed themselves as nutcases, but crucially, nutcases who aren't delivering on the economic promises that were cover for their fascistic impulses, in a coalition that was obviously going to implode once they reached power.
Maybe looking back, this will be seen as the "dead cat bounce" of Conservatism than anything else.
We only need to eat one, the rest will fall in line.
There are much more incidious actors behind the scenes doing corruption at levels we can’t fathom whole Donald is the blunt force tool absorbing all the attention and negative press with his goofy corruption
To shrug it off is just another way to avoid the confrontation, to make it seem not worth one's time. If the people destroying our future are imbeciles, what does this say about us?
Speaking as one of those in the US, we have so much to be embarrassed about that the "super intelligence" thing barely registers on the scale.
I mean, yeah, it is stupid, but it is relatively quaint when compared to:
the stupidest war we've ever gotten ourselves into (high bar), the random murderous boat strikes, the immigration debacle and continued state-sanctioned murdering of both innocent immigrants and American citizens, the concentration camps (yes, we have concentration camps), the abandonment of the previous rules-based world order, the constant threatening of our own allies, the ongoing religification, loyalty purge and subsequent weakening of the US military, the quadrupling down on a fossil fuel economy in the face of very real climate change impacts globally, the very real and IMO likely possibility the current administration will attempt to nullify our upcoming election if it doesn't go their way, etc, etc.
The point of something stupid like this is the power he gains by making you agree to say it.
It shocks me that people don’t understand who he is. Ignorant yes, vile, bigoted, cruel, illiterate, all those things. But he is not domain-generally stupid: he is a terrible genius at humiliation, at breaking people, at hollowing them out.
It may not be work, finally. But he is better at it than any other living person.
The US (without the imagined AI valuations) is in a full blown recession. The US treasury/administration is leveraging belief/investment in AI to keep the numbers up (oversimplified, but not by much). This means the administration has a vested interest in keeping AI churning and investment growing with no fallback except maybe the chaos of trying to start off a wartime economy? Because there are few recognizable AI players and the administration is not above extortion (choosing winners), they are leveraging the DOJ regulatory powers (witholding introducing barriers) to push a new grift. The situation is not strictly political, as much as it's a form of corruption.
Why, I don't know. The OP's "purity test" theory is a possibility.
The initial choices were: "Supreme Intelligence", "Superior Intelligence", "Extreme Intelligence". [0]
Then he removed "Supreme Intelligence" because he said it reminded people of the failing Supreme Court, and it was down to just "Superior" or "Extreme". [1]
Then, presumably after some industry people talked him into a compromise, he decided it was actually between "Superior" or "Super Intelligence", and the latter won. [2]

> The terminology used by the Federal Government should reflect the transformative capabilities of these technologies and the limitless opportunities they create for the American people. Accordingly, the term “Super Intelligence” more appropriately captures the promise, potential, and rapidly advancing capabilities of these technologies. It is therefore the policy of my Administration that, to the maximum extent permitted by law, the executive branch shall use the terms “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in place of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” and will not acknowledge the usage of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in any applicable setting.
Seems remarkably hopeful within a lose lose culture.
Negative incentives seem more likely: punishment for disloyalty.
The loyal just get rugpulled.

Political humiliation needs audiences. We're seeing that by being unable to stop hegseth from live streaming a firing squad execution of a criminal. We can't stop it, as Americans. That's humiliating and that's a loss of control.
So they're pulling out all the stops, this current American Administration, on the dictatorship show.
Stop justifying this crap. It's just the drivel of a decaying mind.
Even if they are "simply the actions of a decaying mind" they still should absolutely not be ignored. To the contrary, they should be paid close attention to, and appropriate actions should (but won't, sadly) be taken to rectify the situation.
Because they aren't really that rich. It's all a house of cards built on numbers in a spreadsheet, vague IP valuations, and server racks. The people controlling the true wealth are getting exactly what they want in the form of inflation on commodity and asset prices.
you don't just get rich and stop, it doesn't stop for these people. They aren't rich enough. They aren't powerful enough.
Most folks at that table with Trump are way beyond the joy of creation; they're playing politics now, and their game is the competition with the 200 other hyper-elite for positional vying.
It's a big cult and you ain't in it.
WTF platform has to split that over three posts. I mean, at least it's not Twitter, but choose a platform that's fit for purpose.
