This is pretty cool. I just discovered the TESS data set yesterday and was wondering what I could do with it. Good on him.
Breaking news.
LLM's are good at finding patterns!
I did similar analysis using a Marchant 8CM in the 60's.
Guess why I got into computing.
Lots of the bigwigs try to talk this discovery down. That's a silly thing to do. It takes a human to have the drive and curiosity to download, process and study that data. No one else did. It's an amazing feat of public scientific discovery and a valuable discovery too. Regardless of the methods used. New technology isn't there to be stared at. It's there to be used.
100% agreed
I completely ditched reddit like 2 years ago and this post helped me find out that claude has a subreddit. Quick scroll and jfc, I thought I had seen ai delusion here. A single scroll and 10+ "I build {X} using claude with just {Y}$". Can we cut to the mass bankruptcy now, this timeline is beyond stupid.
Lots of Amateur astronomers and independent Observatories are making big contributions to the world of planetary science this year
