I think the issue with slowing discovery comes partially if not largely due to the decay in aristocratic pursuits of disinterested knowledge, plus the decay in human capital over the last 150-200 years
You mean like the massive increase in literacy, or the Flynn effect of steadily rising absolute cognitive abilities?
