If a sizeable codebase from Rails can be converted to Rust and from Zig to Rust then it is only a matter of time that momentum will catch up to existing codebases as well and they would be rewritten with AI assistant.

That's writing on the wall.

You miss the point. People don't automatically direct LLMs to do stuff just because it appears possible for the LLM to succeed. There are reasons why people want to leave old systems alone.

Converting the code isn't what stops people. Most old business code has no REAL tests that describe what it does today, so nobody can prove the rewrite does the same thing. I still build a .NET library for Framework 3.5 and 4.0, because code on those runtimes is still running and nobody wants to sign off on replacing it.
