I am so tired of startups doing worse than me

I literally saw a multi million funded startup build an AI model for Android devices and tout it as their best achievement. I put a 32M parameter looped model on ESP32, an 8MB chip. I have three different softwares in production right now. I just don't understand what I am doing wrong. How are these guys getting so much money?

Hah, your mistake is thinking that startup is about building tech. Maybe years ago. Startup is about building a startup, your goal is to do what you need to do to get funded and that is often not building an amazing tech. The fancier your tech the more you come across like a hardcore nerd with no business acumen. This is what the capital owners often think when they come across your type. If you were so smart, why would you waste all that effort building it instead of raising money or getting other people to build it? If your tech is so great, why don't you have bazillion users? Hope you begin to see what you are doing wrong, stop building and optimize for raising money, not users, not more features.

This is so weird, lol. I got the exact opposite advice keep building, and I kept building.

The problem is that you think when you kept building is great while people's reaction is that it's not that interesting. Nobody will buy your stuff just because you kept building. How many things you consumed this week that were made by people that just kept building?

Yeah a ton of great builds consumed. This is HN. There’s amazing bespoke tech everywhere and it’s oversupplied, that’s the real reason OP doesn’t get traction.

Just because you and the system of VCs and angels like a bro with connections and charm doesn’t mean we here do.

I'm a builder myself not a beggar. If you think you are entitled to an audience just because "this is HN", you are the one trying to be part of the "system of VCs"

While this may be the case, it’s everything wrong with business today.

It’s merely what’s wrong with Silicon Valley investment culture. 99% of the world operates more sanely.

The Show HN didn't go well https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49712720 I'm also unable to open the website (timeout).

Yeah, I corrected all the mistakes there. Are you sure, you can't open it? I have more than 10k visitors

You did not fix it, the landing page is still horrendous.

Be confident and pitch unsophisticated fund managers.

I did. The feedback was basically why are you doing this? I said I think so I can scale these models, efficiency and or make a lab of my own

Don’t stop pitching until you’re funded. Every time you pitch should be better than your last. Wishing you funding.

Yes I will keep pitching Thanks for your wishes

hm maybe they had better connections. for any project to workout many things need to line up a good product + luck + users interest! i think you need to keep the faith if you believe in your idea.
