Thing is, Claude tokens are subsidized, to the tune of 50x. You can’t judge by API pricing.

Do you have a source on that? I thought inference was highly profitable. Are you saying AWS is subsidizing Bedrock and incurring heavy losses?

No, I’m saying subscription tokens are heavily subsidized compared to API pricing, which is what TFA talks about. Quote:

Per-token Inference is likely profitable (the news was before recent price cuts that may make the numbers less valid), but subscriptions if fully utilized are 100x value, and the profit margins aren't that high.

Ok, but subscriptions only work for individuals, not for companies, right?

Works for companies up to 150 seats.

If you're fine with sending your company data to a country that is openly hostile towards most other countries. Afaik, there are no subscriptions with inference outside the USA.
