Git Is Still Awful

Not saying git is perfect or beautiful, but if they cant handle git how are they going to "program". Git commands are a line in length, programs can and are often 1000x or even more.
They can program pretty competently and are learning miles faster than I thought they would - in fact all the software devs who join the company, who are themselves excellent programmers are consistently impressed at the code produced by the mechanical engineers.
It's the way that git is designed. The mental model needed to actually understand what is going on is a bit tricky, but git makes it massively harder than is needed by operating at multiple abstraction levels, all of which leak, and then lying to the users in error messages etc.
Im confused why you would think a user of such a system should not understand the basics of what it provides.
One of the nicest aspects of coding agents is that git is pretty much just something that happens in the background at the right times all by itself now.
