To be honest, the entire HVAC system is a poorly documented mess. My understanding is we've been running Danfoss and a Daikin JACE for years with a GAMS gateway in there for the monitoring which does have external access. Distech is a familiar name but I can't tell if I know it because I've seen it on panels that have been in use for years or if I've seen it on stuff coming in for the overhaul. My understanding of the state of play is we're removing the Danfoss and keeping the Daikin. I can't even get a real understanding from anyone about what is being installed, from reviewing my emails briefly, it looks like there will be Copeland units, does that name sound like it would be in the retail grocery space?
Like I said elsewhere, IT has been kept fairly out of the loop of all the plans for most of it so I'm basically picking things up as the contractors trip over themselves installing it. Currently in the waiting game of "ok, so you want your microcontrollers to talk over my network, can you pretty please tell me what it is you're deploying and give me a t least a network diagram?"
I'd honestly love to know if we're just getting unlucky with our industrial HVAC contractors or if this level of disorganization on the IT side is pretty typical of the industry.
