Both aren't.
I would argue though that even Samsung phones give more user control than iOS phones (not that I would buy either one). Even though you can't install your own remix of Android, you can disable or remove most of what you don't like and install anything that targets the Android APIs.
Unlike on Android, there aren't that many third party iOS apps, though.
Plus, even with Google delaying shipping source code, at least they ship the source code. The traces of source you get with the open Darwin code are nowhere near comparable.
Doesn't apple still "verify" (and can decide not to allow) those supposedly 3rd party applications?
EU users can also add alternative app stores to their iOS device, e.g. Epic Games Store, AltStore, or some corn app.
Being able to have a fully functional version of KDE Connect would also be a requirement.

The Google has documented how to compile your own build. Note the ‘building blink for iOS’ section.
It’s as easy as adding ‘use_blink = true’ to ‘ [gn_args]’ in your ‘.setup-gn’: https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/main/docs/i...
