How Many Screenshot Apps Does the World Need?

We all use screenshots so much. They are the [universal API](https://mattrickard.com/screenshots-as-the-universal-api)

I am not surprised by so many people wanting personalized solutions. So many screen shot apps and annotators are so close, but just not quite right for a person's workflow.

I'm using off the shelf open source solutions now, but even those I have had to modify/patch to add just a couple of things to make it smooth in my workflow.

I didn't know that there is so much more than "Snipping" on Windows and "Screenshot" on Linux Mint that is crazy

How did you come up with this metric?

If I needed a new screenshot app and had to go through 1k+ apps released this year alone, I might as well just prompt claude to create my own tailor-made version. It's just like the JS frameworks vicious cycle.
