Capitalist businesses don't work in strategic and long-range terms, they work on quarterly earnings.

Who gives a shit about sovereign capability if you can have a real good earnings report?

What evidence could you possibly have for that? Plenty of capitalist businesses have been around a long time and engage in long term planning and investment.

But most have not.

most non capitalist entities have not either

Sure but most other systems do not have a a set of motivations that uniquely incentivize short term profit at all costs.

Any arguments that you would make about incentives to focus on short term profits would apply to any other system. Do you have an example of one of these unique motivations?
