For sure, the solution sounds in line with the interests of users who really want to play the protected games, more so than any alternative I can think of right now. I'm supportive of people who will knowingly make this trade-off, especially if they are patient/resourceful enough to maintain a separate gaming environment.

As for the latter part, I know that I myself am too busy and not patient enough, and if I really, really wanted to play a protected game I'd probably just switch to a compliant distro and daily drive it.
