In captivity, you have to subject mammals to extreme stress or hardship to prevent them from breeding.

There are many cases mammal species that almost never breed in captivity. Giant Pandas and Elephants are perhaps the more well known ones.

This reminds me of an article I once read about Pandas. A certain zoo couldn't get them to breed, so they made a Panda porno film and, I kid you not, this gave the bears ideas and they had sex.

Not really, you just need to interrupt the power process or whatever process is needed for courtship.

You can give cheetahs all the food and luxury and they won't mate. They need exercise and danger and free space for courtship
