No, pretty much every math PhD student and researcher is now using the AI+lean combo.

Which makes complaints by mathematicians about it absurd. They should just stop flapping their lips; there is no putting the genie back in the bottle.

Why so much resentment? To be a mathematician (I’m not one), you need to be relatively smart, hard working and passionate, considering it doesn’t usually pay well. These are admirable and aspirational.

If mathematicians were saying "the modern economy smashes the average person, and now we're in the same boat", I wouldn't be negative about them. But they aren't saying that. They're saying "our position of relative privilege is threatened and we must defend it."

What privilege? Did you miss the part where it doesn’t pay well?

Funnily enough, the understanding of modern economy is achieved through mathematics, developed by mathematicians and economists (using tools provided in math)

So as every high schooler. That doesn’t mean much for actual results similar to what OpenAI “generated”, and doesn’t quite explain the “war footing”, does it?

We’ve yet to see the democratizing fantasies in math field to materialize.
