The Hacker News community didn’t see any problem at all in 2022 when NameCheap massively revoked the registrations of everyone with Russian passports. Everyone fervently supported this initiative, I remember it clearly. But for some reason, when NameCheap started revoking their own registrations (take this post as an example), they’re unhappy. What a paradox. Who could have imagined that NameCheap could do that to the people who did not deserve it!
I vehemently opposed it at the time, on principle, and got downvoted to heck for it.
HN is a community of rationalists, until something happens that makes them angry, then they become short term thinkers and sharpen the pitchforks.
